If you have reached this page then it is likely that we have some mutual interest in the research areas or thoughts. Here is a brief info on how/when you should or should NOT contact me. This note is mainly for the students.
  1. If you are looking for admission to IIT Madras and want some fundas on the same -- I am not the right person to talk to. See the department FAQ here.
  2. If you do not have time to write individual emails and resort to bulk emails to write to faculty -- be rest assured the faculty is/are more busy than you and your email will be ignored.
  3. It is recommended that you read through the department FAQ page to clarify many of your initial doubts before reaching me.
  4. If you are interested in pursuing an MS or PhD at IIT Madras: Interviews for our MS research program are held twice a year and throughout the year for the PhD program; read details here.
  5. If you have a random idea (anything under the sun) that you think is cool and want to discuss it - you are most welcome.
  6. If you have a clear mind and want some hard + interesting problems to occupy it - you are most welcome to approach.
  7. Email communication is better than phone.
  8. Be honest in your communication about what you know/don't know, have done and not done. Otherwise, it may be mutually harmful.
  9. If you are applying for an open position (see homepage) do include your short resume (1-2 pages, preferably in txt or pdf form or as a weblink) in your email.
  10. Internships. I prefer taking graduate CS interns (summer or otherwise). Minimum span - 3 months.
  11. Post-docs. If you have a PhD from a reputed institution and want to apply for a post-doc position -- write to me with your research proposal.
