CS621: Performance Evaluation
Student Research Paper Presentations
Odd Semester 2007

* Each student will select one regular length research paper from
leading international conferences and journals. The topic of the
paper should be closely related to Computer Science.
* The selected paper should have a strong performance evaluation
component, including some mathematical technique.
* You must email Dr. Krishna Sivalingam, the title and PDF file of
selected paper by Oct 22, 2007, 3pm.
* The student will prepare a 20 minute talk, based on the selected
paper. The talk will contain:
a. Introduction to the problem - About 3 minutes.
b. Concise and Precise Problem Statement - 2 minutes.
c. Proposed Method/Mechanisms - 3-4 minutes
d. Performance Analysis Technique - High level overview, without
getting into too much details - 5-6 minutes.
e. Highlights of Performance Evaluation: Parameters, Metrics,
Subset
of key graphs/tables presented in the
paper: 5-6 minutes
* The talk can be a Powerpoint talk. The talk must be emailed to
Dr. Krishna Sivalingam, two hours prior to the start of class.
* All students are required to attend ALL talks; Each student will
also fill out a feedback form that will be returned to the
speaker.
Any student who misses even one talk, without giving valid
reason,
will lose all points for their presentation.
Any student who does not provide a presentation will lose 10
marks
out of the total 100 for the course.
