Activities

Here is a list of the activities (other than the lectures) designed to support the learning process. (By design, a student is expected to spend 9-11 hours per week on the course, inclusive of all activities related to the course).

Regular Exams (80%): These will be scheduled as per the institute calendar slots for D-slot courses.
  • Quiz-I (20%) - Sep 5, 2018, 8am - 8:50am
  • Quiz-II (20%) - Oct 17, 2018, 8am - 8:50am
  • Endsem Exam (40%) - Nov 20, 2018, 9am - 12pm

The DoTs (0%) - Tutorials - The following gives the schedule for Discussion-Based Open-Book Tutorials (DoTs). The Tutorial session will present a set of problems which the class will try to solve In-class Discussion-Based Open-Book mode. The TAs and the instructor will be available for discussion.
  • DoT 01 : Fri, Aug 17, 13:00. (Cancelled because two lectures were lost due to unplanned closure of the institute.)
  • DoT 02 : Fri, Aug 31, 13:00.
  • Update (Sep 15, 2018) : DoTs were replaced with in-class Tutorial sessions where the instructor would leave questions for the students to work out in the tutorial mode.

The ShoTs (2x7 = 14%) - Short Tests/Tutorials - There will be two short tests, which are in-class standard 50-minutes exams. They will contribute to (2x8 = 16%) towards the final grade. These will be scheduled on Fridays and the evaluated answer scripts will be returned on the following Monday.

The WeePS (0%) - Weekly Problem Sets - The following gives the schedule for posting Weekly Problem Sets (PPS). These will contain 3-4 problems for practice and will be sent out over email. These need not be turned in and does not contribute to the evaluation. However TAs will give feedback if you submit to them.

Surprise Quizzes (6%) - They are 10-15 minutes exams that we may conduct in certain classes which are not announced beforehand. However, the problems that are asked in these will be directly from the practice problem sheets. Here are the surprise Quizzes conducted so far.
