Speakers Bios:
Karthik Sankaranarayanan is a Research Scientist working in the area of Artificial Intelligence at IBM Research in Bangalore. His research interests are in statistical machine learning applied to natural language processing and computer vision. His current research is focused around question-answering and information retrieval from domain- specific knowledge graphs working on IBM’s Watson technology. Before joining IBM Research in 2011, he obtained his PhD in Computer Science from The Ohio State University, USA where he was a U.S. Dept. of Energy LANL Graduate Fellow between 2009 and 2011, working at the intersection of machine learning and computer vision. 

Anush Sankaran is a research scientist working in the area of deep learning and automation at IBM Research in Bangalore, India. He is currently working on DARVIZ, a deep learning IDE for implementing and validating deep learning models. His research interests include learning representations from unstructured data with applications in natural language understanding and image analysis. Prior to joining IBM, he was pursuing his PhD from the Image Analysis and Biometrics lab in IIIT-Delhi.
