On Third Base

and yet at home...

Home

Welcome. If you are here, you must have been pestered by me to visit it, or stumbled upon it by pure chance, or perhaps, needed to satisfy the inner curiosity that asked, "On Third Base?". Having gained the hit I require, I shall not keep the visitors of the third class waiting. And no, it has nothing to do with baseball.

Home to me has always been Hyderabad, where amma lives, and the major part of me gained sense. IIT-Madras has become second home, where most of my closest friends live and where I have gained some insight into sense. Third Home, is a computer connected to the Internet!

I am currently a third year student at the Indian Institute Of Technology, Madras, pursuing my bachelors' degree in Computer Science & Engineering. The primary intention behind creating this web page, was to get myself a "home" on the Internet, where I spend a lot of my time. Another motivating factor was to get back to the art of web designing, having lost all contact with it during the course of the last two years - courtesy the JEE. I designed my first web page back in seventh grade, armed with just a notepad, and Internet Explorer. I stick to that habit, even today, having designed the entire web page - markup, styling and all, with just VIM (my favourite text editor), notepad, gedit and Firefox*.

The style on this site is self-inspired. I find greyscale wonderfully fascinating, and feel that it reflects Life in its truest sense, from the purest white to the darkest black. Fortunately though, Life consists of more than just 256 shades, and that is why you will find a little colour dabbed here and there.

While you are here, I cannot urge you enough to look at the following sections of my web page:

Biography

This section contains everything you might want to know about me. It contains a lot of what I have been, and a little of what I want to be. You will also find among the various factors that have influenced my life, paragraphs on my family, and periodic obsessions that have helped shape me. I cannot fill it up too much yet, for I remember my mother's terrific laughter, when I had once remarked, "In all my seventeen years of life so far, ..."! This section will hopefully evolve pleasantly with time, with what I want to be, becoming what I have become.

Of Work and some Play

This section lists all the insignificant and significant things I have achieved and done so far. I cannot be unfair, and title this section "Work", for a lot of these have brought me tremendous joy, and a lot of fun. That is why I choose to call this section, "Of work and some Play". Again, I hope that this section will grow with time.

Distractions

This part of my website, is devoted to the distractions that govern my life. It may certainly become the biggest part of my website in time to come. Unlike the previous sections, I do not feel true to the name I give it. Though I call them distractions, I do not want these absent in my life. In fact, I believe that these little activities shape my life, in more ways than I can imagine.

Links

Simply put, this section contains links to sites or pages on the Internet, that I find terribly interesting or funny, or very simply, worth having a look. The list is a very ad-hoc one, with personal preferences deciding what goes where. It follows that I also spend a lot of my time on the Internet on some of these links.

Miscellaneous

All the things that I write about, and with no amount of coercion fit into the above, are placed here.

Gallery

This section contains (will contain) some of my more memorable moments caught on camera. Everything from candid moments to nostalgic ones, this section speaks for itself, in a thousand words apiece!

My Blog

This links to my web log on the blogger domain, where I write about all things under the sun that catch my eye, and some that do not.

The Wall

And finally the Wall! Feel free to voice your suggestions here. All kinds of suggestions are welcome, except the really extreme, hate-mail-like ones! If you find something, that you feel has been taken without the author's prior permission, feel free to email me at spranesh@gmail.com. Pointing out Typos, factual mistakes, or dead links will be highly appreciated.

And finally, there is the navigation bar on the right hand side, which is designed to help you around the website.

Lastly, I cannot thank my parents and friends enough, for having been there when it mattered.

*I have my greviances with IE these days. I am not a firefox fan boy either. Do visit this.
