HPCE Highlight
Mrs. P Gayathri is a Technical Superintendent in P G Senapathy Centre for Computing Resources of IIT Madras and started her career in IIT Madras from 2007. Currently she is taking care of the HPCE vertical. She graduated her Master of Science in Software Science with University First Rank in 2004. Due to her passion with engineering, she recently completed Master of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering. Her area of interest includes Machine Learning, Parallel Programming, System Administration, and High-Performance Computing.
Mr. Prasannakumar M completed BSc. Computer Science in 2016 and Master of Computer Applications (MCA) in 2018. Then he started his career at IIT Madras as a Project Associate in the HPCE Team.
Mr. Aswin Kumar is a 2017 engineering graduate in Electronics and Communication. Before joining IIT Madras, he served in Atria Convergence Technologies Limited as a Network Engineer. In IIT Madras he joined as a Project Associate in the HPCE Team.
Mr. Syed Ashruf is a Doctoral Student from the Department of Aerospace Engineering at IIT Madras. He obtained his B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Madras in 2013, and thereafter joined for a Direct Ph.D. programme at the same institute. He works in the area of computational combustion and high-fidelity numerical simulations for fire applications. As a part of his research, he spent few months overseas as a Visiting Scientist at FM Global Research, USA, in 2015 and 2017. Through his work, he has had exposure to various HPC facilities both in India and abroad, which helped him gain interest and experience in cluster management. He joined the HPCE team of IIT Madras as a Project Associate in January 2021 to assist his fellow HPCE users with their difficulties in cluster usage.
Mr. Saravana Kumar is a 2020 Engineering graduate in Information Technology. He has recently started his career at IIT MADRAS as a Project Associate in the HPCE Team.
The main objective of the HPCE Team is to support our users by providing them an
uninterrupted access to the systems in HPCE. To maintain our objective, we need to maintain
the systems in various accepts like Infrastructure maintenance, Data Centre Management,
Hardware Maintenance, Open Source and commercial Software Management, User
management, Filesystem management and all the related system support activities. In which
each of them becomes a typical task based on the issue. In all the difficult times our users are
our big support to overcome all the challenging tasks. The main aim is to promote our HPC users
to enhance in their research areas.
What are your suggestions to HPCE users? Our HPCE website has the necessary resources, starting from the basic information of our cluster/nodes to the details on how to submit a job and relevant job scripts meant for different purposes. New cluster users don't go through this information most of the time and raise a query that they would have sorted independently. So going through all such information would be helpful before trying to use the cluster. Also, a basic knowledge of terminal commands for software/package of the user (most of the software manuals have these) will assist him/her in figuring out or at least narrow down specific issues without difficulty before the HPCE team can step in. And our HPCE Team always will be there to support our users. For any problem related to HPCE, please send an e-mail to helpdeskhpce@iitm.ac.in or hpce@iitm.ac.in or contact 5997.
