Areas: Deep Learning, Hardware-software co-design, Natural Language Processing
I am interested in the intersection of systems engineering with Deep Learning (DL). We are currently building an open-source DL accelerator as part of India's effort to build a Swadeshi Microprocessor with AI and security peripherals.
I am also working on AI for social good focusing on Natural Language Processing and Sign Language Recognition for Indian languages. In both these areas, we have created and open-sourced large datasets and DL models.
Pratyush Kumar is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Madras since April 2018. He holds a PhD in Computer Engineering from ETH Zurich and Bachelors and Masters of Technology in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay. He also has research experience in industry, primarily at IBM Reearch. He has cofounded One Fourth Labs for affordable online education in AI and related areas. He has also started AI4Bharat as a working group to solve practical problems with AI.
