What's this page about?
I have hobbies. I have many hobbies. I might have too many hobbies. I'm working on a strategy that will allow me to devote time to them while still being manageable, i.e. I keep working on my research too. The best strategy I've come up with so far is to have 1 or 2 long term hobbies that you devote a few hours to every week and 1 or 2 short projects that only last two weeks or less and devote more time to them from your free time. There are a few things I want to get really good at, so I slot them into the long term. The short term projects allow me to spice up my life with whatever interests me at the moment. If you have a better strategy, please let me know via email.
Chess
I like playing chess. From what I've read, once you have the basics down, it's all about tactics until you're a 2200 rated player. I'm nowhere near that, so it's still pretty much tactics training for me at this stage. I've found Chess Tempo to be a good place to train. When it comes to playing a game, I like playing both online and offline. For online games, I use www.chess.com.
Reading
I enjoy a good book, especially one with a good plot. I'm game for almost anything, but I really enjoy dystopian novels, epic fantasy, biographies, political thrillers, some psychology, and books on math and its history. I use Goodreads to keep track of what I read.
